Climbers’ Hell & Heaven

El Chalten is a mecca for climbers all around the world. This is why its atmosphere is quite peculiar. Everywhere you can see people with equipment going to or returning from mountains. Some of them wait several hundred days for good weather to ascend to one of the most difficult world’s mountains Cerro Torre or Fitz Roy. The town was founded in 1985 and since then it is the main point offering an accommodation. The architecture in El Chalten is very varied. People who settle there come from different parts of the world and so every building has its own style. The town offers many places for accommodation – from mountain huts to exclusive boarding houses.
